What a beautiful place! A almost hidden gem in West Texas. Lots of trails, amazing views, and raw nature. The park rangers are amazing too, very helpful and knowledgeable. The river is spectacular, well worth the hiking from the closest parking spot. Just be careful with the goats roaming in the access road.

Peace, quiet and solitude is what you'll get when you visit DRSNA, it's a beautiful place with about 6 different primitive camp spots for vehicle camping and a few hike in camping spots. Lots of hiking and biking area, the river was gorgeous and clear and you can fish, swim or kayak. Tons of wildlife as well come prepared as there is no cell reception in the park and you must pack in and pack out everything you bring. Will definitely visit again!

DRSNA is a Texas TREASURE! I feel so grateful that it’s available for us to enjoy. The true gem of the park is the river, of course, which is beautifully pristine and wild. The treasure trove of flora and fauna and the beautiful crystal clear spring water gushing everywhere make it feel like a wonderful fairyland. It’s so amazing. The rest of the park is just as spectacular. The hills with sheer rock cliffs are so beautiful, the sky is so open - paired with the dark skies it provides AMAZING stargazing. If you lie down flat and look up, you truly feel the vastness of the sky. It’s super peaceful there and very remote - so quiet that I caught myself feeling so relaxed that I almost dozed off a couple of times. The perfect place to unplug from all of the outside world and just enjoy relaxing in pure nature. If you visit, please respect and protect this special place. Pack light, pack out all trash, and just enjoy the beauty of the land. I never wanted to leave.Oh, it’s SUPER hot and sunny with little to no shade. Bring more water than you think you need, wear sunscreen and cover your body, and sturdy shoes are needed for the hike to and from the river. I wore hiking boots for the hike and closed toe water shoes in and around the river. It’s pretty slippery. ;) Campsites are bare bones but fantastic!

Enjoyed this remote park. Would love to come back and do the float. The park ranger was very informative and great to visit with.

We camped for 2 nights. The weather wasn’t good but we were the only party in whole park. At night the moon was so bright you can see everything without light. The water was crystal clear. It’s fun.

Devils River SNA- again. I cannot get enough of this place. Decided I wanted to turn 40 here!!!! Spent Friday-Monday in this magical place. Hiked part of the 12m loop, beautiful views near the primitive campsites! We stayed at campsite #2, and have stayed at #3 in the past, looks like #4 would be my ideal spot (next time)! We love Beau, the park ranger, I feel like I could talk to him for hours and learn so much! We also met Nora in the headquarters this time- she is so kind and helpful! I really enjoyed talking to her, she knew all about the park and gave us some great tips and info on the 12 mile loop. We went fishing, and exploring the springs, did not see a soul. It was freezing at night, and 70s during the day. Windy, and almost blew our tent down, so we opted to sleep in the truck (which worked out great btw). The bathrooms w showers are always in tip too shape! MY FAVORITE TEXAS PARK — at Devils River State Natural Area.

First of all, Devils River park is very secluded. Be aware that you need to fill up your gas tank at the nearest town (rock springs, or Sonora) before arriving. As many have stated, it’s a 22 mile drive on a unpaved road. It takes almost an hr once you get of the hwy. Make sure you have a truck or a capable suv w good/ rugged tires. Make sure you have a spare just in case. It’s a beautiful place but takes effort to get there and to the river. Speaking of the river it is super clear and calm. However, be aware that you need to walk almost 1 mile of rugged un paved road to get to the river. Don’t make the mistake we made and take a cart full of chairs, ice chest, and canopy 🤦🏻‍♂️. It’s not your typical easy access river. Also, be safe and take lots of water especially when it’s 100+ Degrees outside. Not the most fun experience for small children either. Thanks to the park ranger ( I think his name is Beau) for helping us bring the cart back to the parking lot 😎. Also, no wood fire burning so bring only charcoal and maybe a small bbq pit. The stars and the moon were the highlight of the trip! Not the easiest park by far but it was an adventure that was worth it. Oh and the staff are great, super helpful.

Another remote area to camp at to get away from crowds. Reminds me of Big Bend country with campsites far apart from one another and very few people. The 20 mile dirt road to get the visitor center then the rough road to get to the campsites make it all more worth it.
